Two people and a dog rescued from flooded field

A water rescue fire crew from Preston was called in to bring two people and a dog to safety after they were stranded in a flooded field.

The alarm was raised when the pair became cut off by deep water at the Bull Beck picnic site off Hornby Road, Caton near Lancaster.

Firefighters from Lancaster and Morecambe attended, along with the specialist crew with an inflatable boat.

The two and their dog were rescued in the craft and were unhurt.

Fire crews also checked out livestock to see if any were in difficulty. But the water level receded and none were in danger.
