Two in hospital after smash in Great Eccleston

Two men have been taken to hospital after becoming trapped in their cars after a two vehicle crash in Great Eccleston.

Fire crews cut one man from a car and helped another from a vehicle before they were taken to hospital, one by air ambulance.

The Jaguar and red Citreon Xsara Picasso collided on the A586, between the turn off for Great Eccleston, at 9.55am on Tuesday.

Three crews from Wesham, Garstang and Bispham fire station attended the scene and used shears and cutters to free the men from the cars.

Police were also at the scene to close off the A586 for around two hours.

The driver of the Citreon was airlifted to hospital complaining of back pain. A passenger from the Jaguar was also taken to hospital.

Police said none of the injuries are described as life-threatening.
