Tributes paid to MP Jo Cox in silence at Chorley and South Ribble A&E protest

PROTESTORS campaigning against the closure of Chorley hospital's A&E held a minute's silence on Saturday to pay respects to MP Job Cox who was murdered in her Yorkshire constituency last week.

Protestors against the closure of Chorley and South Ribble Hospital A&E held a minutes silence to remember MP Jo Cox who was murdered in her Yorkshire constituency last week.

Hundreds gathered outside Chorley and South Ribble Hospital during the tenth weekly gathering by the Protect Chorley Hospital Against Cuts and Privatisation group.

Multi-coloured signs and posters were held reading ‘respect’, ‘RIP’ and ‘united’ for Jo Cox.

Campaigner Michael Ellison described the silence as a ‘very touching moment.’

He said: “I think the protestors just wanted to show their respect to her family and to remember what a great loss it is for the people.”

He added more than 150 people attended the march to fight for the re-opening of the A&E department.
