Young cyclist left in 'serious condition' following Chorley crash

A teenage cyclist was rushed to hospital in "serious condition" following a collision with a car in Chorley.

A black Carrera mountain bike crashed into a Vauxhall Adam at the junction with Beaconsfield Terrace at around 12.10pm on Sunday (September 20).

The cyclist, a 17-year-old man, was taken to hospital with leg and pelvic injuries. His condition has been described as serious but stable.

The female driver of the Vauxhall, who had been travelling up Harpers Lane prior to the crash, was not injured.

Officers have confirmed nobody has been arrested in connection with the collision, but police are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.

Sgt Michael Belfield, of Lancashire Police's Tactical Operations, said: "This collision has left a young man seriously injured and we need to establish exactly what happened.

"I would ask anyone with information or anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage to get in contact with police as soon as possible."
