A woman has suffered suspected head injuries after a car crashed into a market stall at Preston's covered market, say police.

Police were called to the incident at around 12.30pm today following the incident involving a white Mitsubishi on Birley Street.

The woman, who was an occupant of the car was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Officers believe that the car did not hit any pedestrians at the market.

A spokesman for the police said: " We were called to reports that a car had gone into a market stall.

"One woman is believed to have suffered a head injury and has been taken to hospital."
