Two men have been hospitalised after a two-car head-on collision on a busy road near Chorley.
The incident happened shortly before 11am near the Talbot pub on Balshaw Lane, Euxton and the fire service said they had to rescue both male drivers who were trapped in the vehicles.
The fire service confirmed that both drivers had been taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
Chorley police said the incident involving a Citroen DS4 - that also contained two passengers - and a Dacia Sandero was serious and that the road will be closed for some time.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “We were called by the police at 11.13am.
“They said two cars had collided head on and they were not sure if anyone was trapped.
“Two fire crews from Leyland and Chorley went to the scene and found that the male driver of each car were trapped.
“No other people were trapped.
“Both men were freed and taken by ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital.”
The road was closed for just over two hours but was reopened by Lancashire police at 1.22pm.
