Rush hour traffic affected as car crashes into central reservation.

Congestion of up to five miles was causing commuter chaos on Friday evening after an earlier accident.

Emergency services and Highways Agency patrols had cleared the accident at around 7.50pm however traffic continued to be heavy, causing tailbacks up to junction 28 at Bamber Bridge.

Fire and ambulance crews were called to assist at an incident at Broughton where a car had hit the central barrier.

Paramedics attended to one male casualty, administering first aid at the scene on the Northbound carriageway between junction 32 and 33.

It is believed another car was also involved in the incident that occurred around 5.10pm
