Two accidents cause rush hour disruption

Rush hour commuters in Preston faced delays after two accidents less than a mile apart.

Traffic was delayed on two busy arterial roads at breakfast time on Thursday following separate collisions involving a car and a motorcycle.

Long tailbacks were caused on Brockholes Brow and New Hall Lane after a car crashed into railings near to the city’s cemetery just before 7am.

The woman driver was said to have suffered only minor injuries and shock. Emergency services attended to remove debris and fuel from the carriageway.

In the other incident a motorcyclist was taken to hospital after coming off his red Harley Davidson machine in Newton Street near to its junction with Deepdale Road at around 8.40am.

A police spokesperson said it was unclear if the bike had been in a collision with a vehicle. He was only thought to have minor injuries.
