Rush hour collision on M61

Two cars and a van caught up in rush hour collision.

Two lanes of the M61 Northbound at the junction nine interchange at the M6 had to be closed at 8.40am after two cars and a van were involved in a shunt.

North West Ambulance Service sent two ambulances to attend the scene where they discovered the rear car submarined under the rear of the van.

All people involved were able to get themselves out of their vehicles and were all given treatment at the scene by the paramedics and all declined the offer to attend hospital for treatment.

Highways Agency officers were also on thescene to assist while the vehicles were recovered.

Severe tailbacks of up to an hour were reported during the rush hour incident and all lanes were reopened at 10am.
