In a post to social media the upset mother expressed her shock at the incident.

She said: "To the people who thought it was fun or funny to throw a huge stone at our passing car, for it to completely shatter the whole passenger window and hit me straight in the face.

"I was covered in tiny thin shards of glass, it went into the back where our kids were and where the stone landed.

"We had to pull over, to clear it all as much as possible and get home as the police couldn’t do anything.
