A road was partially blocked after a car rolled onto its roof in Blackpool, say police.

Emergency services were called to Preston New Road at around 9.15am on Wednesday after a blue Isuzu D-Max reportedly hit a lamp post and rolled over.

Police say the accident partially blocked traffic in both directions at Fox Lane Ends causing queues and tailbacks.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital suffering with minor injuries.

A spokesman for the police said: "The car was involved in a collision with a lamp post.

"A man in his 30s suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"One lane was open to allow vehicles to pass the scene."

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We responded to a road traffic collision that had left a car on its roof.

"No-one was trapped and firefighters ensured there were no remaining hazards in respect of fire, fuel, oil or debris."

Police say the car is being recovered and road reopened. Traffic problems are expected to ease.
