Police incident shuts lane on M55

A lane has been closed on the M55 due to an ongoing police incident.

The eerily quiet motorway has been reduced to two lanes after an incident on the motorway this afternoon (Friday, April 10).

Police have shut the westbound carriageway between junctions 1 (Broughton Roundabout) and 3 (Wesham Circle).

Highways England said the lane is likely to remain closed until around 3.30pm.

Due to the lockdown and a ban on non-essential travel, the motorway remains quiet this afternoon.

Lancashire Police have been approached for comment.
