'Person hit by train' between Preston and Lancaster

A person has been "hit by a train" between Preston and Lancaster.

Services running through Preston and Lancaster may be delayed or revised as emergency services deal with an incident this evening (March 9).

National Rail has confirmed someone has been hit by a train.

The incident occurred at around 6.30pm.

A spokesperson for National Rail said: "A person being hit by a train between Lancaster and Preston means all lines are blocked.

"Train services running between these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 90 minutes."

Disruption is expected to last until the end of the day, according to National Rail.

A spokesperson for Northern said: "Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Preston and Lancaster, trains are currently unable to call between these stations.

"Road replacement transport has been requested to operate between Preston and Lancaster.

"A further message will be sent once the operators are confirmed and we have an estimated time for presentation of the replacement vehicles."

British Transport Police have been approached for comment.
