One lane closed on M6 due to emergency repair works near Leyland

Traffic was building on the M6 northbound near Leyland due to a lane closure while emergency repair works were carried out.

One lane on the M6 northbound was closed between junctions 28 (Leyland Interchange) and 29 (Bamber Bridge Interchange) due to a pot hole.

Traffic officers and maintenance crews were called to the scene to carry out emergency repair works this morning (July 9).

Live traffic maps of the area showed congestion had been building in the area as a result of the lane closure.

A spokesman for Highways England said: "J28 (Leyland B5256) to J29 (Bamber Bridge Interchange M65). One lane has been closed whilst we repair a pothole in the carriageway.

"Traffic Officers are currently at scene.

"Maintenance Crews are on their way to the area to assist."

Highways England have now confirmed the repair work was completed at around 7.35am and all lanes have reopened.
