Officers posted a screen grab of their dashcam which displayed the moment the driver was clocked speeding at 90mph.

They also superimposed a tongue-in-cheek picture of the character Dr Evil from the comedy film series Austin Powers.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Road Police said: "The vehicle ahead was followed on the M6 travelling at 90mph - far quicker than any other vehicle on this section of motorway at that time.

"When stopped, the driver said: 'Can you just let me off? I won't do it again.'"
