Motorcyclist rushed to hospital after crash with van in Leyland

A motorcyclist was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital after being knocked off his bike following a crash involving a van in Leyland.

Police were called to a report of a collision involving a van and a motorbike at the junction of Canberra Road and Church Road at around 2.15pm today (June 11).

The motorcyclist - a man in his 30s - suffered a suspected broken leg in the crash and was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital.

The road was reopened nearly an hour after the incident at around 3.10pm following an earlier closure.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at 2.15pm to a report of a collision between a van and a motorbike at the junction of Canberra Road and Church Road.

"Motorcyclist was taken to hospital by ambulance with a suspected broken leg."

A rapid response vehicle and a land ambulance attended the scene alongside police.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called today at 2.12pm and attended an RTC between a vehicle and motorbike on Canberra Road in Leyland.

"We sent an RRV and a land ambulance and it looks like we treated a male patient in his 30s with a leg injury and took him to Royal Preston Hospital."
