Morning delays on M6, M61 and M62 as Met Office issues warning for snow and ice
There are some delays on the region's roads and motorways due to icy conditions in parts of the North West this morning (February 2).
M61 junctions 8-6, Chorley/Rivington Services
One lane remains closed closed between southbound junction 8 (A674 Millennium Way, Chorley) and Rivington Services after a crash involving a van and two cars this morning.
There are severe delays and queuing traffic for four miles and the travel time is around 60 minutes.
Lane one (Of three) is closed. Lane two re-opened at around 8.40am.
M6 junctions 39-38, Tebay Services
The M6 southbound has one lane closed between junctions 39 and 38 due to a crash this morning.
Highways say they expect to reopen the lane between 8.45am and 9am.
M6 junctions 34-35, Lancaster
There is slow and heavier than normal traffic on the M6 northbound from junction 34 (A683 Bay Gateway, Lancaster) to junction 35 (A601(M) Carnforth.)
Met Office has reported poor weather conditions in the area.
M6 junctions 22-21, Warrington
There are severe delays of up to 40 minutes on the M6 southbound due to emergency roadworks between J22 and J21 near Warrington.
There is approximately 5 miles of congestion back to J23. Highways are advising motorists to allow extra time for their journeys this morning.
M62 junctions 21-22, Milnrow
The M62 eastbound is closed between J21 (Milnrow, Shaw, A640) to J22 (Denshaw) due to snow on the climb up towards junction 22.
Motorway police say a number of vehicles have become stuck this morning, require recovery teams to assist.
The stretch of motorway briefly reopened at 7am but heavy snow has continued to cause issues and Highways have now closed it again between J21 and J22.
Highways have not said when they intend to reopen the motorway.
