M6 lanes closed after lorries crash in Preston

A lorry crash on the M6 in Preston has led to lane closures this afternoon (Tuesday, July 28).

The crash involved two lorries on the M6 northbound at junction 31 (A59, Samlesbury), near Brockholes, at around 2pm.

Traffic officers are at the scene where lane 1 (of 4) has been closed whilst the vehicles are recovered.

Highways England said the incident is expected to clear between 3.30pm and 3.45pm.

The agency said traffic is coping well despite the lane closure.

There are no details regarding injuries at this stage.

UPDATE: Man arrested on suspicion of assault following lorry crash

A man has been arrested after a fight broke out at the scene of this afternoon's lorry crash on the M6 in Preston.

A police spokesman said: "It looks like we were called shortly before 2pm today (Tuesday) to reports of a collision on the southbound M6 close to junction 31A.

"We attended and found two lorries had collided.

"Following the collision it was also reported that two men had been seen engaged in a physical altercation at the side of the road.

"A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and remains in custody."
