Traffic officers are currently on scene and the southbound M6 has been closed between junctions 39 (Shap, Kendal, A6) and 38 (Tebay, A685).

Lane one (of three) has been closed whilst the pothole is filled, with Highways warning of brief delays for traffic heading south.

There are also delays on the A590 westbound, between the junctions with the M6 and the A591, due to a crash near the South Lakeland village of Crooklands.

One lane (of two) remains closed and there is queueing traffic due to recovery work after two vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police are putting in short traffic holds on occasion, as there has been multiple stop starts through this morning.
