M6 crash closes lane between junctions 31 and 31A in Preston
A crash on a rain-soaked M6 has forced Highways to close a lane in Preston this afternoon (April 30).
The crash happened on the southbound M6 between junctions 31A (Bluebell Way, Longridge) and 31 (Preston New Road, Samlesbury, A59) at around 1.50pm.
Traffic officers are on the scene and have closed lane 1 (of four) whilst the ambulance service attends to an injured driver.
All southbound traffic was held until around 1.55pm whilst the accident was moved to the hard shoulder.
Traffic has since been released but is slow moving between the affected junctions.
Highways England cameras show that road conditions are very wet due to the rainfall.
The agency said it expects the incident to be cleared by 5pm.
It follows an accident earlier this afternoon on the northbound M6 between junctions 32 (M55, Broughton Interchange) and 33 (A6, Lancaster South / Garstang).
Lane one (Of three) had been closed until around 1.45pm after a vehicle came off the road in the wet conditions.
The accident has now been cleared and all lanes have since re-opened on the northbound carriageway.
