Commuters faced long delays after a lorry shed its load, blocking three lanes of the M6.
The incident happened at around 5.30am on Tuesday on the southbound carriageway near junction 34 at Lancaster.
Police reported long tailbacks, with travellers facing significant delays during rush hour as they battled to get to work.
The hold-up was expected to be cleared by 9.30am. It is believed there were no casualties.
