Lane shut on M6 between Leyland and Preston due to damaged road surface

A lane has been shut on the M6 near Leyland this morning (Tuesday, March 24).

Highways said they had been forced to shut lane 1 (of 3) on the northbound M6 between junctions J28 (Leyland) and J29 (Bamber Bridge, M65).

It said a defect had been reported on the road surface requiring immediate repair.

The lane is expected to reopen between 9.30am and 9.45am.

A spokesman for Highways said: "The M6 northbound at J28 (Leyland, B5256) to J29 (Bamber Bridge Interchange, M65) has 1 lane closed due to a defect in the road surface.

"Traffic officers and maintenance crews are currently at the scene."

Traffic is managing well during morning rush hour.
