Lane closure in place after M6 crash in Preston

A lane has been closed on the M6 in Preston after a crash this afternoon (Sunday, September 20).

UPDATE - 2.20pm - The lane closure has been removed and the road is open again.

The M6 had been reduced to three lanes after a crash on the northbound carriageway - between J31A (B6242 Bluebell Way, Longridge) and J32 (M55, Broughton Interchange) - shortly before 1pm.

Ambulance crews attended the scene, but details on casualties are not yet available.

Speeds were reduced on approach to the accident scene whilst emergency services worked in lane 1 and the vehicles were recovered.

A Highways spokesman said: "The M6 northbound at J31A (Preston East, Longridge) to J32 (Broughton Interchange, Blackpool, Preston North) - 1 lane has been closed due to a collision.

"Traffic Officers are currently at scene, with NW Ambulance on their way to the area to assist."
