Fatal collision on motorway bridge

Police are appealing for information after a cyclist died following a collision in Euxton.

Two cyclists were involved in the accident that happened shortly after 9.10am on Sunday, April 13 on Runshaw Lane.

The pair were crossing the M6 motorway bridge when an Audi S3 travelling in the opposite direction failed to negotiate a left hand bend and collided with the rear of one of the bikes.

The rider, a 35-year-old man from Whittle le Woods, received injuries which sadly proved fatal at the scene.

The other cyclist was uninjured.

Sgt Steve Wignall, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “I would appeal for anyone for anyone who saw this incident or who witnessed any of the vehicles involved prior to the collision to get in touch.”

A 36 year old man from Ormskirk was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed until July.
