Family of eight-year-old killed in crash pay tribute to 'beautiful girl'

The family of an eight-year-old killed in a car crash have paid tribute to their "beautiful girl".

Emily Connor, from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, died after she was in collision with a Vauxhall Corsa on Monton Road, Monton, Salford, at about 10.40am on Saturday.

The child, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by the emergency services.

In a brief tribute, issued through Greater Manchester Police (GMP), her family said: "To our Emily, the kindest person we ever knew.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the crash. He remains in custody for questioning.

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who saw the blue Vauxhall Corsa in the area around the time of the collision or anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage from Monton Road to get in touch.
