Fallen tree blocks road in Euxton

A large tree has fallen and is blocking a road in Euxton, near Chorley this afternoon (July 23).

The tree came down in Washington Lane at around 12pm, blocking the road between Whinney Lane and West Way (B5252).

Police were called to the scene just after 12pm, but the force said no injuries have been reported.

Staff from Lancashire County Council are at the site and are in the process of removing the tree with a chainsaw.

The road is expected to remain closed until around 5pm.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "A large tree has fallen and blocked Washington Lane just behind the fire station.

"Our local highways team is currently working to remove it and we expect to be able to reopen the road again by 5pm."
