Driver sought by police after young child hit by car in Bamber Bridge

Police wanted to speak to a driver after a child was reportedly knocked down in Bamber Bridge.

A car was travelling along Brindle Road when it reportedly collided with a young child at around 8.30am today (December 17).

Police said the female driver initially stopped at the scene, but left prior to the arrival of ambulance crews.

She also allegedly did not provide any contact details.

Officers launched an appeal to help track down the driver, but they have now confirmed she has since come forward.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Earlier, we Tweeted about an RTC in Brindle Road, Bamber Bridge, where a child suffered minor injuries.

"We asked for information about the driver who stopped at the scene but left when the ambulance arrived.

"The driver has now made contact with us."
