Cyclist suffers serious injuries after being struck by car near Chorley Retail Park

A man has suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a car in Chorley this morning (February 6).

The man, aged in his 20s, was knocked off his bike at 6.44am at the A6 Shepherds Way roundabout junction with George Street, near Chorley Retail Park.

An ambulance was called to the scene and the cyclist has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

North West Ambulance Service said the man has suffered serious leg and back injuries.

An NWAS spokesman said: "A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with leg and back injuries.

"His injuries are believed to be serious and medics at Royal Preston Hospital were put on standby for his arrival.

"No other casualties were reported."

Police closed A6 Shepherds Way, between the roundabouts at Lyons Lane and Chorley Bus Station, for around 90 minutes.

Lancashire Police have been approached for comment.
