Cyclist seriously injured in Chorley crash, Harpers Lane shut by police

Police have shut Harpers Lane in Chorley after a cyclist was seriously injured in a crash this afternoon (Sunday, September 20).

The road is currently closed from the roundabout in Water Street (A6) to the junction with Beaconsfield Terrace whilst emergency services attend the scene.

Lancashire Police has confirmed that a cyclist has been injured after being struck by a car at around 1.10pm.

The cyclist has been taken to hospital by ambulance, and police described their injuries as "serious but not life-threatening".

A police spokesman said: "We are currently dealing with an RTC between a cyclist and a car in Harpers Lane, Chorley and have had to close the road for time being. Please avoid the area."

North West Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
