Police have confirmed his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Officers are now working hard to establish exactly what happened prior to his death.

Sgt Chris Evans, of the Lancashire Police TacOps team, said: "First and foremost we send our condolences to the man’s family. Our thoughts are very much with them at this difficult time.

"Although we do not believe there is anything suspicious about his death, and we are not looking for anybody else in connection with it, we are very much appealing for information about the incident.
