Cyclist found dead at side of Burnley road
A cyclist was pronounced dead at the side of a road in Burnley after being found unresponsive by a passerby.
The cyclist, a man in his 70s from Halifax, was found unresponsive at the side of Burnley Road, Cliviger, at around 12.05pm on Saturday (September 5).
Emergency services attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Police have confirmed his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
Officers are now working hard to establish exactly what happened prior to his death.
Sgt Chris Evans, of the Lancashire Police TacOps team, said: "First and foremost we send our condolences to the man’s family. Our thoughts are very much with them at this difficult time.
"Although we do not believe there is anything suspicious about his death, and we are not looking for anybody else in connection with it, we are very much appealing for information about the incident.
"Perhaps you saw the man in the moments before he died, or maybe you have dashcam footage showing what happened. Whatever information you have, we would urge you to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
Anybody with information has been urged to contact police by calling 101, quoting log number 724 of September 5.
