A woman had to be cut free from the wreckage of a car after a crash in Preston.

Firefighters had to remove the roof of the vehicle to get the casualty out at around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

The woman was said to be suffering from spinal, head, hip, arm and collar bone injuries.

She was transported from the scene in Regent Drive, Fulwood to the Royal Preston Hospital a mile away and was believed to be in a serious condition.

The accident happened on a residential road which residents complain is being used as a rat-run between Garstang Road and Black Bull Lane.
