Crash on M6 causes severe delays near Standish

A crash on the M6 northbound was resulting in heavy traffic near Standish and Parbold.

Highways England have confirmed that all lanes are now reopen on the M6, but have warned motorists that "delays will take time to clear on top of normal peak travel traffic. "

The M6 northbound had been facing delays due to a crash between junctions 26 (Orrell Interchange) and 27 (Standish and Parbold) this morning (February 12).

Traffic cameras showed that at least two vehicles had been involved in the collision.

A spokesperson for Highways said: "The M6 northbound J26 (Orrell Interchange M58) to J27 (Standish Parbold A5209).

"One lane has been closed due to a collision.

"Traffic Officers are on their way to the area."

Motorists had been facing severe delays of 25 minutes, according to the AA.
