A car overturned on the northbound carriageway of the M6 after it was involved in a collision with a HGV, say fire services.

Crews from Preston were called out to the accident at around 8.30pm on Monday, April 9 between junctions 32 for Broughton and 33.

Firefighters say the driver of the car, a man in his early 20s, was "shaken up" but only suffered minor injuries.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "The accident involving a HGV and a car happened in lane one of the motorway.

"Thankfully nobody was trapped and there wasn't a fire.

"We worked to help the casualty and make the vehicles safe."

Two lanes on the M6 remained closed for around two hours while Highways England cleared the scene.

Crews remained at the scene for around 15 minutes.
