Car crash forces police to close roads near Rivington

A road traffic collision caused roads in the Rivington area to be closed for nearly two hours.

Officers closed Rivington Lane and Sheep House Lane after a road traffic collision in the the Rivington area at around 4.10pm on Saturday, May 30.

Numerous police patrols were in the area following the crash and officers urged motorists to avoid the area "for the next couple of hours".

The road was reopened nearly two hours after the collision, with police confirming the driver sustained minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "The driver involved in the Rivington RTC has minimal injuries and has left the scene with members of his family."
