A male bike rider has died after a “potential cardiac arrest”, police say.
Despite being treated at the junction between Back Lane and Cumeragh Lane, Whittingham, by paramedics, the man, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they were first called to the incident at 3.25pm (Friday, March 10) to reports from the North West Ambulance Service of a “potential cardiac-arrest” with the man trapped under a car.
Lancashire Fire Service were also called to the scene near Preston as police closed both roads in both directions.
Police say the man was treated at the scene by paramedics but less than two hours after the incident confirmed the man had died.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “We were called to the scene at 3.25pm by the ambulance service to reports of a potential cardiac arrest with a man trapped underneath a car.
“Both roads were closed and an investigation into the incident is underway.
“We are not sure if the motorbike collided with the car or if the man fell ill before encountering the car and going under it.
“We can confirm the male motorcyclist died at the scene and officers will now attempt to contact the man’s family before releasing more details.”
