Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist sustained a serious arm injury in a collision with a car which failed to stop.

The crash happened around 4.30pm on Monday when the motorcyclist, from Morecambe, was travelling down Back Caton Road near to Dana Hand Car Wash in Lancaster.

His machine collided with a car turning left towards Lancaster. The driver failed to stop and police are urging him and anyone who witnessed it to come forward.

PC John Stephenson said: “This collision happened at a busy junction coming up to rush hour and the motorcyclist was filtering down traffic, so I am confident someone would have witnessed it. The vehicle is described as a silver Rover or Honda Civic and it is possible that the driver did not realise what had happened or that the motorcyclist had been seriously injured. I would urge him to come forward.”
