Miracle double-lung transplant mum Natalie Kerr from Adlington, near Chorley, has launched an appeal for people to sign up to the Donor Run and support organ donation.

People are being given the chance to run alongside transplant athletes and show their support for organ donation by signing up for the Donor Run at this year’s Westfield Health British Transplant Games.

The event will take place at Leverhulme Park, Bolton on Saturday August 9.

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to get involved in the event and fundraise for their chosen charities, with distances of both 3km and 5km to choose from.

Natalie, who will be competing in the Games for the first time this year, said: “I’m so grateful for what that person and their brave family did for me. Not only is it my life that has been transformed, it’s my families too.

“That bravery has inspired me to give something back to those who are still waiting to find donors and receive transplants which is why I am campaigning to encourage more people to sing up to the Organ Donor Register. I will also be taking part in my first British Transplant Games this summer which I’m really excited about.”
