THE father of four year old boy killed in a deliberate fire is appealing to South Ribble MP Lorraine Fullbrook to help get a full investigation into his death.

Little Jai Joshi lived in Hutton, near Preston, with his dad Paresh Patel. But he died last month in a flat fire in Liverpool, along with his mother Janma Joshi, 40.

Police say Miss Joshi, who also had a teenaged daughter, deliberately started the fire.

An inquest into the youngster’s death is due to be held in Liverpool in July.

Although the Howick CE Primary School pupil lived with his newsagent dad, he had been visiting his mother for the Easter holiday.

His dad has called for a full investigation, after the mother failed to return Jai despite court orders.

Mr Patel, is waiting for a decision to be made by Lancashire County Council as to whether or not a Serious Case Review will be held into the circumstances surrounding the little boy’s death.

The county’s Safeguarding Children Board met yesterday afternoon to discuss the issue but a decision won’t be made until later this week.

Mr Patel though is meeting his MP on Saturday and said: “I want to take this to a higher level because the whole business of enforcing court orders is a grey area with different procedures across constabulary borders.

“I am concerned that social services have not done what they should have done to meet Jail’s needs and am taking it up to a higher level.

If someone is given a court order that should be enforceable, otherwise what’s the point of it and all this needs investigating and sorting out.”
