A section of the M6 in Lancashire was blocked today after a lorry fire.

Police closed the northbound carriageway of the M6 between junction 32 at Broughton and 33 at Galgate at around 11am.

Motorway police tweeted: “All traffic stopped whilst the fire is put out.

Once under control we will look to open two lanes.”

Highways officers and firefighters were also attending the scene and traffic queues were building up.

Two lanes were later reopened.
