A spokesman for Lancashire fire services said: "We were called after a car and a HGV collided in lane four of the southbound M6. We suspected that a woman in the car had suffered a back injury so we had to cut the roof of her car off.

"The woman was removed from the car using a long board and taken to hospital by ambulance."
