Two cut from car following crash

Two people were taken to hospital after a car collided with a lamppost in Euxton.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman involved in a road accident has died.

The incident happened at 4.45pm on Sunday in Dawbers Lane.

Fire crews from Chorley and Leyland attended the scene and found two people trapped inside the car.

They used cutting equipment to free both the driver and passenger who were both taken to hospital by ambulance.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were unable to give details of their injuries.

Traffic was diverted away from the scene.

Earlier on Sunday an accident on the Guild Wheel flyover at Penwortham caused delays for motorists heading into Preston.

Five vehicles are understood to have been involved but nobody was seriously hurt.

A lane was shut while police attended and the accident was cleared
