Trains between Blackpool North and Preston cancelled by Storm Ciara

Flooding at Poulton meant the line had to be closed on Sunday morning.

Poor road conditions also meant no road replacement transport could be provided and passengers were advised by train operator Northern not to travel.

The line was among a host of Northern services affected by the storm.

Passengers on Preston to Lancaster and Preston to Colne services were warned to expect delays and cancellations at short notice.

A spokesman for Northern said: "We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause our customers.

"Please check immediately before you travel. Anyone whose journey is delayed by 15 minutes or more can apply for compensation via Delay Repay."
