Three injured in overnight motorway crash

Three people were injured in an overnight, multi-vehicle motorway crash, say ambulance services.

The accident happened on the southbound M6 between junctions 31 and 30 at around 12.15am on Friday, July 13.

A passing fire engine from Blackpool on its way to Winter Hill saw the incident and called for help.

Watch Manager for Preston fire station, Mark Woodward said: "Early on Friday, an appliance from Blackpool was on its way to Winter Hill and came across the crash.

"Three vehicles were involved and the incident was called in.

"Two additional engines from Preston went out. On arrival the Blackpool crews had already helped the occupants from their vehicles.

"Nobody was trapped. An off duty doctor stopped and helped us give the casualties first aid.

"Ambulance services were on the scene shortly after."

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Services said that two people had been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Then carriageway was closed for a short time.
