Sgt. Paul McLernon for Preston police said in a statement to residents: "Due to the number of coaches that are anticipated for this fixture Lowthorpe Road will be closed for the duration of the game and for a period before and after the match.

"I would hope that these arrangements do not affect access to your property unduly.

"However, I would ask that careful consideration is given to travel arrangements to and from your property within the affected times.

"We understand the inconvenience that this causes to residents and a re making every effort to find a suitable location for the coaches to go.

"We will of course make every effort to open the road as quickly as possible once it is safe to do so."
