Pair hurt in crash on A59 - police now appealing for witnesses

Two people were hurt in a crash on the A59 at Rufford last night, police said.

The man and woman were in an MG Mark 2 car driving towards Liverpool when it collided with a Toyota Auris waiting to turn right at the junction of Liverpool Road and Croston Road, at around 10.25pm.

The man, 66 from Aughton and the driver, suffered facial injuries. His female passenger, 67 and also from Aughton, suffered chest and pelvic injuries.

They were taken to Royal Preston Hospital where they remained this morning.

Sgt Lee Harris, from Lancashire's Road Policing Unit, said: "We want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened as they may have important information that could assist with our investigation.”
