Firefighters from Lancaster were called to a first floor flat in Queen Street at around 1.50am today, and used a water jet to put out the flames.
An investigation into the cause was opened. The man's condition was not immediately known.

A man who inhaled smoke during a bedroom blaze in Lancaster was taken to hospital for treatment, the fire service said.
