Man and dog rescued from barbed wire

A man and his dog had to be rescued by firefighters after they became tangled in barbed wire during an early morning walk.

The alarm was raised at around 6.40am today in Waddington Road, Clitheroe.

A fire crew found the man and dog trapped in the wire near to the bank of the River Ribble. They used bolt cutters to release them.

Both were given first aid by the firefighters before paramedics arrived at the scene.

The extend of their injuries is not known.
