It is the latest in a series of mysterious car fires that has plagued the city.

A fire engine from Preston was called to the scene in Fox Street at 1.57am on Thursday, February 14.

Firefighters used one breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the burning Seat car.

No injuries were reported and the owner/driver of the vehicle was not present.

According to Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, "the cause is under investigation."

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at around 1:55am this morning (February 14) to the report that a Seat car was on fire in Fox Street, Preston.

"Enquiries into the cause of the fire are on-going.
