Crews set about tackling the fire which started in the motor of the compressor and did not affect the cylinder.

Watch Manager Michael Dawson said: "The mechanics in the garage noticed that the air compressor at the rear of the garage had caught fire.

"So they did the right thing by calling us straight away and evacuating the garage.

"On arrival we found that the garage was smoke logged with the compressor on fire.
