Crews from Preston were called out after the Bullmastiff's head became trapped at a property on Nelson Drive at around 11pm on August 22.

The 10-year-old dog, which was said to have been "very good" throughout the incident, was released by crews using cutting equipment.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We tried to release the dog by undoing the nuts on the lift but some of these were not accessible.

"We used cutting equipment to get the dog out. The dog was very well behaved and stayed still and quiet throughout.

"The dog was freed safely within around 15 minutes and did not seem at all distressed by its experience."

Fire services say the dog was uninjured.

It is not known how the dog became trapped.
